Commission & Commercial work

Bri Cirel is a full-time painter with an established fine art practice and nearly two decades of professional experience. Her work has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in Los Angeles, Manhattan, and nationally, and she has collaborated with brands including Reebok and Adidas.

Cirel creates commissioned and commercial artwork for private collectors, brands, businesses, and creative projects. Available projects include murals, original paintings, advertising campaigns, brand collaborations, album artwork, video projects, custom prints, reproductions, and other creative commissions.

Whether creating a large-scale mural, an original painting, or artwork for a commercial campaign, each project is approached as an opportunity to create something distinctive and visually impactful.

REEBOK X CIREL

In 2015, Reebok commissioned Cirel to create a work inspired by her earlier painting “Man in the Mirror,” a layered portrait of Michael Jackson as both a child star and an established pop icon. Created to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Allen Iverson Question Shoe, Cirel brings her iconic layered approach to Iverson’s career.

The composition features Iverson as a rookie, with the words “We Talkn’ About Practice” cut from the image. Through the lettering, a second image of Iverson as an established All-Star emerges from beneath. The two portraits come together to celebrate his evolution from rookie to established All-Star.

TAMMIE BROWN X CIREL

Cirel was commissioned by celebrated drag comedian Tammie Brown to create an exclusive art poster for DragCon LA 2017. The work layers images of Tammie in and out of drag, with the word “TAMMIE” cut from the upper image to reveal the contrasting portrait beneath through each letter. The result brings both personas together in a single portrait, capturing the humor and theatricality of Tammie Brown.

CIREL DTLA MURAL

Commissioned by Pamper Beauty Salon in the summer of 2022, Cirel adapted her political poster “I AM SOMEBODY” into a 20 foot long by 12 foot high mural. The original color palette was adjusted to incorporate Pamper Beauty Salon’s brand colors while maintaining the visual language of the poster.

Painted in stages over several weeks, the mural unfolds layer by layer. A backdrop of stars and stripes is followed by words “I AM SOMEBODY” and “NOT JUST SOME BODY,” with a woman’s face emerging through the lettering and her body concealed behind the text. The completed mural expands Cirel’s layered style to an architectural scale, bringing her distinctive visual language into the public landscape of the Downtown Los Angeles and creating a work centered on women’s personhood and equality.

BAM!BAM! X CIREL

Oakland based riot grrrl band BAM!BAM! chose one of Cirel’s existing paintings for the cover of their LP “NAILS.” The painting features four hands with glossy red nails arranged in a circle beneath a white pentagram, an image that perfectly suited the album’s title and aesthetic. The circular composition translated naturally to the record itself, where the artwork was printed directly onto the vinyl. Originally painted in oil on canvas, the work was professionally photographed and digitally reproduced for the final album packaging.
